The Public Affairs Manager is a member of Heathrow’s dynamic Public Affairs team. The role requires excellent Parliamentary contacts, initiative and dedication to working as part of a team to achieve Heathrow’s objectives. The Public Affairs Manager will build strong external relationships with regional stakeholders on behalf of Heathrow and be able to use existing connections to enhance the airport’s reputation. As part of the Communications function, they will work with colleagues across the department to develop proactive campaigns.

  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with a cross party range of Parliamentarians, as well as a range of other external stakeholders.
  • Supporting the activation of proactive and reactive communication strategies to build the reputation of our business.
  • Working closely with Heathrow’s policy team to lead on a range of issues and develop policy priorities.
  • Collaborating with Heathrow’s Carbon and Communities team on issues important to local political stakeholders and Heathrow’s local community.
  • Scanning the political horizon for issues which are relevant to Heathrow and proactively developing strategies to address them.
  • Organising visits and events to demonstrate the importance of Heathrow to the UK economy.
  • Previous political exposure and existing relationships, to drive engagement with politicians from across the political spectrum.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information and present it in a way which is easy for the public to comprehend.
  • Excellent team player and takes a proactive approach to updating and sharing information with colleagues. Working as part of a small but dynamic team this person will seek opportunities to support colleagues and bring new perspectives.
  • High level of personal resilience. This person should be able to deal with highly pressurised situations where information is confused and have the capacity to withstand setbacks and criticism whilst maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Credible and authoritative – seen as a source of expertise, and a go-to resource for communications advice across Heathrow.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Parliamentary experience.

Working Location

Our agile approach offers the opportunity to combine home working with meetings, events and training at the airport. All roles involve some on-site working each week, so you’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
