Due to the scope and needs of manufacturing operations, this position is an onsite-based position and is not eligible for remote work.
The Shift Manager will work out of our Brownwood, TX facility and report to the Operations Manager. The key responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Oversee day to day activities of the manufacturing facility to ensure safety and operational performance to delivered daily
Manage staff and equipment to schedules (including timecard approval), reduce/eliminate downtime, and train employees appropriately per position
Oversee batching: ensure schedule is batched as required, train new employees as required in batching
Analyze and solve work and equipment problems alerting maintenance as required
Oversight of the extrusion, grinding and packaging operators
Inventory management & upkeep; coordinate to meet timing and expectations of inventory to the floor
Develop & improve processes, standard operating procedures, and training materials to meet specifications, ensure quality and meet attainment to schedule
Drive 5S and continuous improvement initiatives, including cleaning all floor areas
Escalate and coordinate with teams when needed to resolve issues and maintain floor output
Ensure everything is being maintained and documented properly through the entire process according to HAACP requirements and company standards
Able to lift up to 50 lbs
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Able to work in extreme heat and cold
Ability to be on your feet a majority of the day
Must be willing to submit a background check and pre-employment drug screening
Must be eligible to work in the US
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience working on the floor of a production facility
Minimum 3 years pf experience in Pet Food
3 to 5 years of experience in people management in a manufacturing setting
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift 50 to 75 lbs
Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours
Ascend/descend a ladder or stairs daily
Ability to operate a computer and other office technology
Occasionally position self to access low spaces
Ability to observe details at close range
Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
Must be able to work out of the office during regular business hours
Must be able to relay accurate information via multiple communication vehicles including verbal and written mechanisms
